Crafting Confidence since 1929.

Bologna. 24-year old Amedeo Testoni launches a studio in his name; at the epicentre of Italian shoemaking art.

Over time he develops numerous signature techniques and codes, which are celebrated and upheld to this day. Testoni evolves to become synonymous with the highest quality of Italian shoemaking artistry.

Innovation
& Knowledge

Bolognese Construction (Sacchetto)
Extremely complex and laborious shoe construction method that ensures optimum comfort and flexibility. Soft goat skin “pocket” is hand-sewn into the shoe’s upper. Abandoned by the industry at large but continued by Testoni.

Norwegian Construction
Braided hand-stitching to improve shoe’s walking and durability characteristics.

Piuma Rapid Construction
Proprietary Testoni technique in which stitching between the upper and sole is external, leading to unequalled comfort, waterproofing, and climate adaptation.

Stitch & Turn Internal Stitching
Entirely invisible internal stitching, perfecting a seamless and graceful silhouette.

Testoni Icons

Filettone
Handcrafted contrasting border / piping lending each piece a unique personality.

Spiral
Meticulously crafted, aesthetic spiral detail applied along the sole welt or bag architecture to create a distinct Testoni signature design.

Intreccio
Distinctive interpretation of materiality in varying “woven” shapes and constructions. Impossible to machine, and for this reason crafted exclusively by hand, a precise diagonal pattern forms a real fabric, resistant and uniform.

Turtle
Rooted in the traditional Testoni inlay, contrasting material combinations are applied to enrich every piece.

Artisanal Craftmanship

Material
Only extraordinary quality and variety of materials are used. From calfskin to deerskin; from iguana to alligator.

Creativity & Consistency
Evolution of Testoni designs are underpinned by continued refinement of proprietary techniques by seasoned artisans.

Finish
Extraordinarily high number of finishing steps unique to Testoni. Hemming, mounting and finishing can involve up to 200 unique touch points.

Debut of Women's Collection

Purveyor to the stars, Testoni, under the leadership of his daughter and creative director Marisa Testoni, launches its first women’s footwear and accessories collection in 1964.

The new collection is quickly embraced by celebrities, socialites and royalty from around the world. Sophia Loren, one of its foremost followers, commissions a bespoke pair of boots inspired by the intricate flooring pattern of Bologna’s Basilica di San Petronino. Farah Pahlavi, Empress of Iran and another Testoni admirer, is the first to request a tailor-made pair of crocodile boots.
